So glad you didn't see
The nervous wreck I used to be
I never thought a man could be so small
You never look at me
Like I'm a liability
I bet you never think I've been at all

SCENE 001
- Two Weeks Ago
- Restaurant
……….…………………………………………………………………………………………………
We fade open to a nice restaurant, buzzing with discussions and music. We settle in on a table, where two people sit, one of them being the former SNME Heavyweight Champion, “Soulfire” Justin Tyger, who is sitting across from Amy Pirtle. Tyger takes a sip from a Bud Light, as the two put their menus down. Amy stares at Tyger, while he sips from his beer.
Amy Pirtle
So… How’s your head?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
It’s no worse than it was before… I’ll survive.
Amy Pirtle
It doesn’t hurt or anything?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
It does every now and again, but it’s fine.
As the two talk, a man in the background looks in their direction, a huge smile cracking on his face. He creeps up behind Tyger, and Amy looks up at him, as the man puts his finger to his lips, keeping her quiet. The man grabs Tyger, putting him in a loose sleeper hold. Tyger’s face goes into confusion, as he thinks about who the man is, while the man laughs. Tyger looks up, and laughs, as the recognizes the face. Tyger stands up, shaking his hand, but the man goes into a full on hug. He steals a seat from another table, spinning it around, sitting in it backwards, elbows rested on the back support. He looks at Tyger, then at Amy. He looks back at Tyger, nodding his head towards Amy, waiting for an introduction.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Oh… Amy Pirtle, this is Matt Riley… Matt Riley, this is Amy Pirtle.
Riley extends his hand, shaking Amy’s hand.
Matt Riley
It is a very nice honor to meet you.
Amy Pirtle
It’s nice to meet you too…… Who are you?
The three laugh, as the two explain their back-story.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Well, me and Matt here were Army buddies. Met back in basic and when to Somalia together… He saved my ass a few times there, didn’t you?
Matt Riley
Yeah, but we were saving others' asses too, so it all evened out…. Dude, remember when we pulled that guy out from the ceiling and he sprayed blood all over us out of his neck hole? You totally almost barfed everywhere dude, ha-ha.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Well, unlike you, I got blood flung in my mouth! You woulda been chunkin’ it everywhere! At least I had control.
The two laugh, recounting their old war story, as Amy looks on in slight disgust, and slight confusion about the two laughing about it.
Matt Riley
This guy over here, was the best shooter ever, I swear. Don’t mess with him when he’s gotta gun.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
…I was best out of our basic unit, not to brag.
Matt Riley
You should brag, you saved our units ass with all of them militias you killed, we would have been screw if you weren’t for you.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Now you’re givin’ me too much credit. There were a lot of other guys there shootin’ too….. I’m gonna get another beer, ya’ll want one?
Matt Riley
I’ll take one if it’s not much trouble.
Amy Pirtle
I’m good.
Tyger stands up, walking off, as Riley looks over at Amy, nodding in Tyger’s direction.
Matt Riley
Michael’s a cool dude, ain’t he?
Amy Pirtle
Yeah, I like him….
Matt Riley
You totally love him don’t you?
Amy Pirtle
Sshhh…
The two laugh, as Riley picks up a menu, scanning the pages.
Amy Pirtle
You know, Michael never tells me about the war you two were in. I wouldn’t have even known if I hadn’t found his medals hidden away in a box.
Matt Riley
Yeah, I don’t blame him for not wanting to talk about it a lot. It was very much a hell. Neither of us was the same after it, you know. I know it was bad on me, I couldn’t even start to believe the effect it had on Michael, and I know puts himself though even worse hell because of it.
Amy Pirtle
Why was it worse on him?
Matt Riley
….A lot of things happened, you know. Michael saw a lot and went through a lot, we all did, because I‘ll admit him more than me. I know he took it all hard… but if he ain’t told you all of this already, I don’t want to be the one that tells you. He probably has his reasons for not telling you everything.
Amy Pirtle
That’s the thing, he hasn’t told me anything.
Matt Riley
Like I said, I don’t blame him. We can laugh about what we can, but I think it’s best some of that stuff stays buried inside, you know.
Amy Pirtle
I don’t think it’s a very good thing to keep stuff like that inside.
Matt Riley
Well, for Michael, I think it is….
As they finish their conversation, Tyger walks up, putting a beer down in front of Matt, sipping his. Matt takes a drink, before interrogating Tyger.
Matt Riley
So what I wanna know is, how come you ain’t talked to me in awhile, huh?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Well, after I got out and you stayed in, couldn’t really talk to you then, then I went to Japan and that really cut all ties. I’ve tried to find you on Facebook and stuff but I ain’t never found you.
Matt Riley
I don’t have any of the stuff, gotta stay off the grid you know, can’t have pissed off Somalians hunting me down…. But I’ve heard about you man, big man in Japan eh?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
I did my best, but I heard some mumbles about you wrestling around here in the States, but I couldn’t find a mutual friend to get in contact with you.
Matt Riley
Well, unlike you, Mr. Big Time, I had to go in crappy towns in front of crappy towns. Hard to make any major connections there.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
But I heard you were pretty rockin’ man.
Matt Riley
Maybe one day I can wrestle you and show people who’s really boss, eh Mr. Former World Champion?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
You probably would, I have no doubt.
The two laugh, as we pull out of the table, as the three keep talking and laughing.

SCENE 002

- Parking Lot Outside Of Restaurant
……….…………………………………………………………………………………………………
We fade in, outside in the parking lot, as the three make their way to their cars. Tyger hands Amy his keys, as she walks towards the El Camino. Tyger walks over to Matt’s car, as the two stop, and shake hands.
Matt Riley
Well, it was very cool you see you again, Michael.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Yeah, it was. Give me your number dude so I can talk to you later, maybe I can get you a hook up in SNME, eh?
Matt takes Tyger’s phone, typing in his number, before handing the phone back.
Matt Riley
Now, be sure to tell them I’m the best you’ve ever seen.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
I’m sure you’ll prove that statement as correct… I’ll see you later man.
Matt Riley
Untiiilll we meeet again.
The two laugh, before shaking hands again, before Matt waves in Amy’s direction, as she stands up out of the car.
Matt Riley
It was nice meeting you, Amy!
Amy Pirtle
Nice to meet you too!
Tyger walks off to his El Camino, climbing inside as Matt drives off. He takes a deep breath as he sits down, and Amy smiles.
Amy Pirtle
Well… He was a..... cool guy.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Ha-ha. Yeah, he’s one of those guys, but he’s awesome. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be here.
Amy Pirtle
You know, I’d really love to hear more about what happened over there….
Tyger stares off into the distance for a moment, before looking over at Amy, while he starts the car.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
I doubt you’d love to hear it…. Maybe someday.
Tyger turns, backing out of the parking space, as Amy sits, wanting to know more about Tyger.

SCENE 003
- Present Day
- Empty Dirt Road, On A Rainy Night.
……….…………………………………………………………………………………………………
We fade back open to a dark and gloomy back road, rain pouring down from the sky, thunder and lightening crashing. We see the El Camino, sitting on the shoulder, as we slide in to see Tyger, sitting leaned back in the seat with his eyes closed and a big dip in, taking in the calming patter of the forceful rain. He takes a deep breath, opening his eyes and raising up, staring off into the down pour, as he spits into an empty beer bottle.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Meeting Matt again, and Amy constantly probing me about what happened during the war has really brought back all of the memories and the pain. I’m not proud of what we had to do over there, and I’m not happy with how everything ended up, in fact, it tears me up sometimes. That’s a chapter and a part of my life I want to close and never think about again, but it always seems to come back around and hit me again somehow.
We try to laugh off anything we can now looking back, but lord, there’s nothing funny about anything that happened, especially at the end. Seven months in a desert, pour sand out of my boots, it’s just hardships that a lot of people will never understand, including Amy. I wish I could forget it all, but I can’t do nothin’ about it no matter how much I wish to close it out of my mind. There’s still a lot of blood on my hands. There were so many things I should have done better. If I had, maybe more people woulda got out of there alive. I don’t know, I just wish sometimes it was erased from my memory.
A loud thunder cracks, breaking into Tyger’s speech, as he takes the moment to spit.
You know, now I got a really cool opportunity going into Brawl For All. Matt got signed on with SNME, I’m so happy for him, and wouldn’t you know what his first match is? Against me, of course, and I’m so excited for it. Me and Matt talked more about wrestling in basic and in Somalia than we did anything, and to sit here, nineteen years later, and we actually get the chance to wrestle against each other? How cool is that? There’s no hate, no rivalry, nothing in this match but two little eighteen year olds going out and having fun. I have nothing but respect for Matt going into this match, and I will have nothing but respect walking out of it.
This match ain’t gonna be about who wins, and it ain’t gonna be about who loses. It’s about goin’ out there and just havin’ fun again. Just two friends since they was eighteen year old kids, goin’ out and doin’ what they’ve dreamed of doin’ ever since they were little, and goin’ out and doin’ it together. How could you ask for much more better, eh?
A different fire is gonna be showin’ at Brawl For All. Not a fire burnin’ out of hate or rivalry or for some sort of accomplishment, but a fire burnin’ for fun, burnin’ just to have a good time again.
Whatever fire it might be burnin’, Matt I think you one of the only guys I can say that could handle whatever fire that burned your way. After what we went through together, I think our souls could stand anything.
Tyger smirks, looking out into the pouring rain again, spitting as we pull out of the car, into the rain again.

SCENE 004
- 1991
- Somalia
……….…………………………………………………………………………………………………
We see a young Michael Christopher and a young Matt Riley, standing, in full gear, in a dusty desert. A building, part standing in pieces, part rubble on the ground is behind them, as the two look back at it. Matt has a bloody face, as Michael is hunched over, grabbing his back in pain.
Matt Riley
You alright, dude?
Michael Christopher
Yeah, I’ll be fine. My back is killin’ me. A big ass beam fell on me.
The two walk over to other soldiers, some standing, some knelt on the ground around a radio. Christopher looks around, scanning the faces in the crowd, before looking at the commander of their unit.
Michael Christopher
….Where’s everyone else at?
Commander
They’re still inside…
Christopher scans the faces again, become increasingly panicked.
Michael Christopher
We got to go back in there! We can’t just leave them in there!
Commander
Half of the building is gone! We can‘t just run in there! The rest might fall down on us and kill us all!
Christopher ignores him, walking towards the building anyway, but Riley stops him from walking on.
Commander
We can’t go back in there right now! It could fall over on ever-….
A gunshot rings out, as a spurt of blood shoots from the commander’s forehead. He falls to the ground, as Michael, Matt, and the remaining members of the unit hit the ground, covering themselves from the gun fire. Christopher and Riley crawl up to a mount of sand, as they and others look over, seeing countless militia advancing on their position, guns in hand, firing. The soldiers pick up their guns, firing back at them. We zoom in close behind Christopher, as he fires several shots, before one of the militia members falls to the ground, blood bursting out of him.

- Dark Bedroom of Justin Tyger
……….…………………………………………………………………………………………………
Tyger shoots out of his sleep with a yell, startling Amy out of her sleep. He sits in the bed, looking around, confused. He regains his bearings, as he notices the sweat pouring off of him. He wipes his forehead, as Amy raises up, freaked out and worried.
Amy Pirtle
What’s wrong?! What happened!? Are you ok?!
Tyger brushes her off, jumping to his feet.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
I-…. I’m fine, I’m fine.
Amy reaches for him, but Tyger hustles his way into the bathroom.
Amy Pirtle
Michael, you have to tell me what’s going on, this is the third time this has hap-…
Before she can finish her sentence, Tyger slams the bathroom door, as Amy sinks down into the bed, hand covering her face and mouth, as a crack of thunder rumbles the house.
