[you are a failure! You are a failure! YOU ARE A FAILURE!]
As our screen is all black, we start listening to those words being quietly whispered as they evolve into a big group of people screaming them. Our scene then changes from black as it fades in into something a little more clear, showing a faint image. We are on the deserted streets of England. The camera pans into a watch situated on a left wrist. We notice its 3:00 AM as the camera then pans out. We see the shadow of a tall man walking. A car passes next to him as he keeps walking. As this man reaches a lamppost, it is then when we realize this is SNME Superstar Wade Barrett. Wearing a purple button up shirt rolled up past his elbows, a pair of black pants and black shoes, Barrett seems to be holding a backpack. Barrett stops on a bench at a bus stop. He decides to sit for a brief moment, as some of his thoughts have been bothering him for quite some time.
[Flashback]
We fade in slowly panning into a man wearing a grey suit. We are reaching him from behind, as the camera then is to his left. We notice this man is none other than William Regal. He is resting his right elbow on the bar, as with that same arm, he is resting his forehead on his hand. With his other hand, Regal grabs a glass of whisky. He drinks it all as he puts the glass back on the bar. A man, which we recognize as Wade Barrett, arrives on takes a sit next to Regal.
Barrett: “What are you doing? I thought you stopped drinking a long time ago.”
Regal: “I did, but things happen. I just found myself wanting to get a drink, and here I am, seven glasses later.”
Barrett: “That was a big mistake, William.”
Regal: “We all make mistakes, even you.”
Barrett: “What mistakes have I done in the past couple of months? I got a lucrative offer and I’m getting fame and a lot of money.”
Regal: “You should’ve never left this, you know.”
Barrett: “What do you mean?”
Regal: “Bareknuckle boxing.”
Barrett: “My life is better now, why should I have stayed?”
Regal: “It isn’t. You were a success there. I recruited you for Saturday Night’s Main Event. I tried to mentor you, but you are just a failure.”
Barrett: “Don’t you ever call me a failure again.”
As Barrett pronounces those words, he stands up from his chair, grabs Regal’s glass and throws it to the nearest wall, which is to his right. Barrett seems angered as many turn their attention to him. Barrett then is seen walking away of the place.
[End Flashback]
Wade Barrett stands up from the bench as he keeps walking to the airport. Suddenly, something gets his attention. A lot of noise is heard to his left. Barrett goes into this alley that gets him into a small venue. He notices these guys are having illegal bareknuckle fights. Something then touches his right shoulder as then Barrett turns around and notices this is an old friend of his.
Friend: “Wade, it’s been a long time.”
Barrett: “It would’ve been longer. I shouldn’t be here, I just got here by accident.”
Friend: “Oh, come on. Don’t you miss this? You were a beast!”
Barrett: “Was I a beast? Or was I just not a failure?”
Friend: “What are you talking about?”
Barrett: “You know, as a child, everyone called me a failure. I remember kids all making a circle leaving me in the center of it as they laughed and singed ‘You are a failure! You are a failure!’. Even my own parents did that… That is why I came here in the first place. I had nothing but fury to unleash, I didn’t care about anyone, not even myself. All I know was that I had bills to pay because I left them all to start all over. I had a desire to become successful and I did, but then I got a big opportunity. An opportunity that seems to be coming to an end.”
Friend: “Wade, we appreciate you. Stay here. Come on, we may not be blood related, but we are a family. At least give it one more try.”
Barrett: “I have big things ahead of me, I know that. I just can’t throw it all away.”
Friend: “Please, just once, for the sake of the old times.”
Barrett smirks as he takes off his shirt. He is on the street as a big muscled guy stands in front of him. Barrett seems as determined as ever. They look at each other as Barrett show nothing but confidence. That other guy throws a punch as Barrett is able to get out of the way and counter attack. As soon as Barrett hits him, we listen to a police siren. As we listen to it, the small crowd all leaves in desperation running as fast as they can. Barrett is still standing there. To this image, the camera slowly pans out fading out to black.
