Saturday Night’s Main Event returns from commercial as the camera pans around the packed MkCale Center. Fans are seen wearing their favorite superstar’s merchandise. Superstars like Randy Orton, Justin Tyger, Seth Akira, Matt Sydal, and Chris Danielson. The camera settles on the announce table as Joey Styles and Austin Owens sit awaiting their queue.
Styles: Welcome back everyone, if you are just tuning in we have had one hell of a show, so far. Isn’t that right, Austin?
Owens: That’s right, Joey, we have had some great action so far tonight. How about that showdown we just saw between Barrett and Uso. That was one hell of a match.
Styles: No kidding, Austin, what about that Tyler Malcolm? He has a huge upside about him and a great future ahead of him.
Owens: Very true, Styles, and after all that we still have a huge night ahead of us tonight.
Styles: That’s right, Austin, tonight and old rivalry starts again as Chris Danielson faces the man who took his Tennessee Heavyweight Championship hostage for two months, Jacob Jones.
Owens: That’s right, Joey. Some would even argue that it was the loss to Jones that drove Danielson to leave for Japan.
Styles: I’ve heard that rumor myself, Austin, but I am interested to see what happens when these two clash again tonight. Danielson has been on a tear since returning from Japan.
Owens: That may be, Joey, but what about this new twisted attitude Jones has had since his match with Scott Levy. Not to mention the fact that Jones now has Heyman back at his side.
Styles: Well if anyone knows Paul Heyman it’s me and even I am nervous to see what he is going to do with this new Jones.
Just as Styles stops speaking the arena is filled with white noise blaring through the PA system. The titantron becomes covered with static as the fans cover their ears from the noise. Suddenly, the noise stops and the lights in the arena go out. Fans scream at the sudden darkness until a single spotlight shoots up at the rafters where two figures are seen. The static on the titantron now gives way to a shot of Paul Heyman and Jacob Jones. It is clear they are the men in the rafters. Heyman is in a black Armani suit with white pinstripes and Jones is sitting in the corner of the steel platform in ripped black denim shorts, a Raven t-shirt, black leather Harley Davidson boots, and a black leather jacket. Heyman smiles his usual sinister smile looking between Jones and the camera before speaking.
Heyman: Just over a month ago I was abducted by Scott Levy. I was tortured and beaten until I was ultimately forgotten about. I escaped and stayed away for long enough to see my protégé excel in that ring below us right now. However, he was losing control of himself to the spirit of “The Raven”. A spirit that I helped empower during its inception. Because of Jones internal struggle he lost his match last week against that comedic joke of a superstar, Bearded Dragon. That’s why I have returned. I have returned to help Jacob Jones learn to control “The Raven” spirit and use it to his advantage. Tonight, the man who battled Scott Levy at Seven Deadly Sins shall returns. But don’t take my word for it, ask the man himself.
Heyman steps aside and allows the cameraman to approach the prone Jones. Jones sits in silence with his head down for a long time. His hair looks snarled and unwashed. Jones raises his head revealing that his usual close trimmed beard has now been grown out and is equally filthy. Jones stares into the camera with his dark brown eyes for a great deal of time before finally speaking.
Jones: Seven days ago we…I lost my match against the Bearded Dragon. A man whom I have deemed unworthy of such a victory and a man who someday soon shall see my loss avenged. My internal struggle with “The Raven” became too much for me during that match. However, seven days ago Paul Heyman returned to my side. Over the past week he has helped me conquer and harness “The Raven”. So that on this night the real Jacob Jones may return and who better for me to return against than my old friend, Chris Danielson.
Jones whole demeanor seems to change as he adjusts himself on the steel platform. Jones raises his left hand pushing his hair out of his face, pausing at the nape of his neck, rubbing it to relieve pressure. His eyes close as he hits a sensitive spot from the Springboard Cutter last week. He drops his hand and opens his eyes again as he begins to speak.
Jones: Christopher, Christopher, Christopher, you haven’t forgotten about me have you? You haven’t forgotten “The Natural” Jacob Jones have you? You haven’t forgotten the man who took your Tennessee Heavyweight Championship away for two months? You haven’t forgotten the man who beat you so bad that you had to leave for Japan for a month? Because I haven’t forgotten about you, Christopher. I haven’t forgotten how you cost me my very first match in this company. I haven’t forgotten the sweet vengeance when I beat you for my very first singles victory. I certainly haven’t forgotten how you begged that fossil, The Ultimate Warrior, to get your championship back, thus, causing my first singles loss. Christopher, I have not forgotten you and tonight with “The Raven” and Paul by my side I shall rip you limb from limb. Tonight, you face me in my match. You are out of your element Christopher. This won’t be a technical clinic, or a high flying masterpiece. No, it will be a brutal massacre and you will be lucky if you make it to your special match with Matt Sydal. Christopher, I told the world that I would have my revenge on you after I lost to Warrior and tonight it happens. Tonight, you will fall and I will rise. So it is written and so it shall come to pass.
Quote the Raven Nevermore.
