The cameras begin to roll inside the live sold out arena for the SNME broadcast. Fans cheering, as the opening pyrotechnics flow throughout. Suddenly the show is kicked off to a familiar tune, blaring over the PA systems, bringing any seated fans to their feet, bracing for what’s to follow |
"A New Day" by Atelitas Way hits the PA and the crowd knows that familiar tune anywhere. Mixed feelings are shown from the crowd not sure which Joey will show up tonight. Joey wastes not time in making his way out to the ringside area. As Joey appears we see him with dark blue jeans on, and a plain white t-shirt. He stands at the top of the ramp while the cheers now begin to overpower the skepticism originally felt for Joey. His clean white Nike uptowns, drive him to walk to one side of the ramp, as he throws his arms out to his sides with a smile on his face, while the fans eat it up. Slowly making his way across the ramp to the opposite side now, once again throwing out his arms, and smiling embracing the fans, and love he's getting this week from the SNME crowd. Joey walks back to the center of the ramp and heads down toward the ring slapping a few hands here and there as he also rubs the stubble from his facial hair around his cheeks. |
As Joey gets ringside, he walks around the ring, still slapping some hands, and enjoying every moment he's experiencing being back again on SNME television. Legend climbs up the steel steps, and enters the ring through the middle ropes, and looks around the sold out arena. Joey reaches over for a microphone as the music slowly fades out while the chants slowly die down. Joey raises the microphone to his mouth, and begins. |
Ha. You know first and foremost I wanna say thank you! I wanna thank all you people for your love, and your support still after all this time away, you’ve still kept the same passion, and support for me and for that… I’m truly grateful.
Joey lowers the microphone for a moment while the fans show their love and dedication once again cheering his name blowing the roof off the arena. Joey paces around the ring staring up and down the crowds of fans joyously cheering and chanting. While he brings the microphone back to his lips, the cheers die down a bit giving him the opportunity to be heard. |
Last week marked my return to the squared circle. Last week was not only one of the craziest weeks in my life, but one of the greatest. Between being re-signed by “HBK” to starting my programs, to being put back on the active roster, and returning back to what I love. Hell I figured Shawn wouldn’t have me main carding for at least three to five months, and my first week back I’m already back doing what I love, and picking up exactly where I left off a year and a half ago.”
The crowd continues to eat everything Joey says up, as he pauses for a moment staring up at the large black banner with red, white and blue lettering reading SNME. He rubs his chin stubble and begins again. |
”When I left here, I left… I left on a.. a real low. Career wise, my life was shooting to the sky. I had been making a name for myself, getting over with you people, and busting my ass to get noticed. Hell I was inches away from reaching my first title opportunity for the Custom Championship. I had it all on my side, everything seemed right. Inside though, I had a lot of personal demons I never faced. I had a lot of things inside me that to this day I couldn’t explain to you people and make it understand.
* sigh * I… I quit.
I walked away from everything I love. From my career. My big break. My dream. I walked away from it all and left you people questioning, why? Why’d Joey Legend back his bowling ball, and head home? Like I said to this day I couldn’t explain it to you, and make it make sense, but something inside of me took over, the demons had gotten to me and taken me over and lead me down a road I would never wish upon anyone in their lives. I had hit a roadblock in my life, and a dead end or so I thought in my career, until I finally found help. Help.
Help in a three by five cell, with no contact to the outside world. No fans, no drugs, no addictions, no pain, nothing. Just me and a giant slab of concrete with stainless steel bars. I had found my salvation, my savior. Like I said, I don’t expect this to make any sense to anyone but I felt like I owed it to my fans, and those hardcore SNME fans to get my story and my point across for, Self closure I guess you’d call it.”
Joey paces around the ring again while the fans chant and cheer again. He rubs the back of his head, and takes a nice deep breath inhaling then exhaling quickly after. He twirls the microphone in his hand for a moment, before continuing on with what he’s saying. |
”Upon my release I hit the gym, harder than ever. I knew what I wanted, and what I needed to do and my god I set out to do it. After a few phone calls, here and there I was able to get in touch with Shawn here at SNME. I explained my life, my ups and downs and the new road I’d be on. He offered me an opportunity to redeem myself. To right the only other wrong in my life, leaving here.
Last weeks return wasn’t just the return of Joey Legend. No sir, last week when I defeated Casey Walker, that was a wake up call to the rest of the roster, that things aren’t gonna be the same. Now I’m back to continue my climb to the top of the mountain I had started a year and a half ago.
Last week after my victory however, it was a short-lived celebration. Yeah, ya know I thought it would be so much more than it was. Don’t get me wrong, it felt amazing to come out, hear the cheers of the crowd, feeling the goose bumps again. The rush of adrenaline. Kane though, Kane took that great feeling of victory away when he decided it’d be a good idea to come down here, interrupt my celebration, and choke slammed me to the mat. Hit the lights.
Joey lowers the microphone as the lights slowly begin to dim now. Once dark, we see flashes of cameras, as well as fans using their cell phones as light sources. A dim white light shines down on Joey, as he stands in the middle of the ring bringing up the microphone again. |
”Ya see Kane, what you did not only pushed the envelope cross the line, but it made ma actually open my eyes to the realization that you are in-fact, dumber than you look. The fact that you had to come down here, and steal my thunder after finally coming back, was one thing, but to put your big freak hands around my neck, and do what it is you did last week, deserves everything you will get tonight.
Kane, I’m not afraid of you. I fear no man, no women, nothing. I’ve had a life that seeing and feelings the things I’ve felt there no room for fear, just reaction, and consequences. You’ll see the consequences of your actions when we go toe to toe. People have asked me, Joey you seemed scared last week when Kane made his way to the ring. I say no. Kane you don’t strike fear into my eyes, or my soul. You actually surprised me. I was surprised that not only did you decide to come out, but that you decided to make a new for yourself at my expense at that point.
Lets get it straight Kane, you aren’t on my level. You aren’t a guy I’d consider competition or even a challenge. I’m a man speaking to you like this, and planning to back every single word up. I do not fear you Kane. Nothing about you strikes me. I will walk through hell Kane. I will walk through fire, Big Red Retard.”
Joey lowers the microphone a moment, before glaring deep into the SNME cameras. The fans listening to everything he has to say. Joey raises his arms, and then slams them down as flames begin to circle the ring. Joey stares deep into the camera again as a small smirk begins to grow from the right side of his mouth. The fans go wild now, as he raises the microphone. |
”And I will walk through hell fire, Kane. The fire inside of me is burning deep, and I don’t think you’ve got what it takes to put that out, making that the difference between us. I know I have what it takes.. To extinguish your flame, and send you back to hell, once… and… for all…”
Joey continues to stare deep into the cameras, while the flames continue to heat the arena and ignite the ringside area. Slowly the cameras begin to fade black to a commercial with the fans going wild, and some sweat dripping off of Joey’s head from the intensity he’s bringing in his call out to Kane, as well as the flames around him. |
