with pent-up anger, a viper strikes with unbearable authority
champion...
gold....
A lot can be said about champions, or championships. A lot can be said about the man that holds the belt, and it's assumed that he's the best of the best within his division, or within the company. Some say that the title of “Champion” really is a measurement for how well he performs or how determined... some say that it's a plethora of attributes all balled into one that makes that champion great, or actually what makes that champion... a champion. The gold around my waist made everything feel at ease, the gold around my waist once upon a time let me know that I was the best amongst the best, but do not get misconstrued because I still feel as if I'm in tip-top condition, but the absence of the chunk around my waist leaves it to be everything BUT confirmed to those on the outside looking in. So, this is my final hour... to prove to those who believe that I've gone soft... to prove that I haven't changed a bit, to prove that I'm just as, if not more lethal than I've ever been. Not an easy feat, but it's a feat that I plan on overcoming, and it's not a promise, but a vow, and if anyone questions the abilities that I possess, then wait, watch and see as history unfolds right in front of your eyes.

It's been a long road for the Viper. Returning in the month of February, he made it his mission to climb back to the top of the ladder, but there has been more challenges than he was ready for, or so it seemed. The re-alignment with Legacy was something that he saw going far, but it seemed as if Cody was up to the same tricks, with immaturity striking a heavy chord. And since then Randy hasn't been able to get back in gear as he used to be. Randy hasn't been able to find his strides as he once was able to, but instead he was being beaten and passed over for opportunities given to men that he felt didn't deserve it as much as he did. The business was cut-throat, and Randy was on the outskirts being dealt the cards that he didn't want any affiliation with. Randy was mad beyond belief, Randy was peeved beyond limits he knew he had. He had never been this upset in his entire career, even when he was back wrestling in OVW setting up the ring and wrestling in the rain due to the roof being slightly undone, he was more happy doing that than he was now. It was evident that he was unhappy as the camera gave us a visual of The Viper's face as he walked solemnly through the narrow hallway. His eyes were fixated upon a distant destination past the cameras, his tall figure making way through the hallways as irrelevant ICW crew workers stood idly by and watched as Orton walked past them.Outfitted in his latest ICW merchandised shirt that was available for purchasing as he walked down the hallway. For the regular man, this would deter him away from continuing on any further as these stares from everyone darted at Orton weren't ones that seemed pleasant at all. Some of them were struck with fear, and some of their expressions were ones as if they were disgusted at the sight of him, or thought poorly of the man. Of course, after passing a few people Orton stopped in his tracks and looked at one of them, and quickly the man made his exit away from the scene, and as Orton turned back to face the cameras he gave a swift roll of his eyes and continued on with his slow saunter.
For the rest of the way it was apparent that he was now hellbent on blocking out the glares tossed his way, as he set his focus on that same destination past the camera. Not once did he avert his eyes to the camera man backpedaling through the hallways, and from that alone showed the clear focus within our Viper. It showed that determination that he has always had, backed with that cold and icy stare that could freeze over the most immovable men. Something about that stare that Orton held was moving, but at the same time gave him the ability to make men grow fearsome.Orton turns a corner and after doing so he looks down at his wrists and begins applying the wrist tape. Still in that focused state of mind as he trudges his way through the halls past the crates and other miscellaneous ICW production stuff. Orton begins to slow down, and the camera man finally stops backpedaling after what seemed to be a long journey through the outskirts of the arena, and the camera zooms in on Randy's face. A slight look of displeasure is taped across his face as he bites down in aggression. Once he does the camera does a quick swivel and looks at what Orton was looking at, and of course it was none other than the pesky, yet tolerated Todd Grisham. Orton made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with Todd Grisham as Grisham looked on cheekily grinning slightly until Orton turned all of his attention onto Todd and stared at him icily. Quickly sending Todd to throw the smirk off of his face. Once Todd stopped smiling that is when Orton went back to looking down at his wrist tape and readjusting and finally rips off the end, and finishes applying the essentials. Todd had waited for Orton to finish his proceedings patiently, but once Orton looked back up to Todd and stood up straight to make it apparent that he towered over our resident ICW interviewer, he darted a glare at Todd which in turn caused Todd to slightly fumble over words foolishly. With the opportunity bestowed upon him, Randy quickly picked up the slack and interrupted Todd before Todd could even get a full word out of his mouth.
RANDY ORTON | THE VIPER
“Todd, don't even bother saying... a word, because I already know what you're going to say—” (Randy quickly corrects himself.) “Or better yet, ask me... so save time, and the breath. Because, to be quite honest with you, I don't think much of Dolph Ziggler. I repeat... Randy Orton thinks nothing of Dolph Ziggler, and to you, that may be strange, and it may be absurd of me not to think much of an opponent, preposterous as it may seem, it is true down to a tee. And you may even wonder why, because it wasn't long ago where Dolph stripped the right to sign Ted to this company away from me.” (Randy's voice trails off as he begins to think about his former comrade and protege that formed Legacy.) “I wasn't ready for it, and it wasn't meant to happen, and so it didn't. Rightfully so, because had I had things go my way when the situation was at hand, then it would have only made measures worse, because I would have had another body to watch, I would have been babysitting Ted AND Cody at the same time, which would inevitably cause me to lose focus, and at that point in time Todd, my focus was slipping away from me as it was, everything I had learned, all of my morals, all of my ring abilities seemed to vanish because I had to look after a man who couldn't tie his laces without proper direction. So, Ziggler can boast around, he can prance... saying that he beat me when I was at my best, but trust me... that is an out-and-out lie right there... a blatant, miscarried out-and-out lie, because I wasn't at my best, and honestlyyyyy... if I were at my best then Ziggler's best just wouldn't be able... to... measure up, because I've been in this business for a longggggg time, and I know the ins and the outs of things, and I know things that Ziggler just couldn't even begin to comprehend, and that's where I have the advantage, that is where he is going to flake. So he can go ahead and tell the world that he beat me, he can celebrate with Vickie all he wants to, but when it comes down to it. I know that I'm in the best shape I've ever been in, and without the burdens on my shoulders, I'm more of a threat to his reign.” (Randy cracks a slight grin and licks his lips swiftly at the mere thought of ending Ziggler's reign. It was a neat thought to say the least, and something he planned on doing.) “He wants to hold that title for as long as he possibly can, and I get that, I really do, but with the stakes as high as they are... I'm not going to let this opportunity slide right by me, and of course I would prefer an Undisputed title shot, butttttt... that's been given to Miz. Heh... so I'll settle for this, but once that bell rings, I'm going to throw everything at Ziggler in my arsenal as if I WERE competing for the Undisputed title! And that is something that Ziggler is going to have to deal with, that is something that Ziggler is going to have to face, and whether or not it's too much to handle for him... I'll walk out tonight, as a champion.”
Without even thinking about it, Orton quickly put the emphasis on the word champion. He narrowed his eyes and began to glare at Todd once again as Todd held the microphone up to Randy's mouth. Randy didn't seem to be in the mood to talk to Todd, but there was obviously some things that he needed to get off of his chest, and it showed that he had more to speak about as he slightly left his mouth ajar. Waiting for the moment where he could think of a few words so he could eventually speak them. As he looked to the side slightly, it was evident that he was deep in though as his eyes began to travel aimlessly around the confines as if he were searching for some kind of answer when it pertained to what to say. Once he found the words, he let out a deep, yet brief sigh and continued on.
RANDY ORTON | THE VIPER
“And I don't care how many Zigglers I have to go through, because I've seen them all, and I've pretty much beaten them all, so anything that he has in his arsenal, I've dealt and overcome. So who's to say that I won't be able to overcome yet again?” (He scrunches up his face as he asks that question. But once the question has been asked, Todd goes to nod his head and possibly answer the obvious rhetorical question, but Orton interrupts after darting a disgusted look at Todd due to his stupidity.) “As I was saying, I don't care how many Zigglers I have to go through, because I've seen it all, and I've experienced it all... his best just isn't going to be good enough, because I've proved, I've shown that I'm one step ahead of the competition. Sure things haven't been going through as planned, but if you look back... I've been distracted to say the least. Legacy... Edge, but now that neither of the two are of the essence, it's just going to make me a bigger threat to Ziggler's well-being and I don't plan on taking things easily on Ziggler, because this is something bigger than I expected when I entered the arena tonight. At first thought, it was... I HAVE to beat Ziggler, but now it is... I am going... to beat him... senseless. I can't afford yet another loss, and I won't let it happen. I won't let another punk escape and live to tell his friends... his family, that he got one over on me. Let-alone... a man who considers Vickie Guerrero to be his most prized possession excluding the championship.” (Randy pauses and sighs.) “Because I know that I'm not going to hear the end of it. I know that I'm not going to hear the end of it because I'm still hearing the insults to no end. I'm still hearing the fans, the people... my co-workers talk ill against me, talking about how they beat me to a pulp... talking about how I'm washed up, talking about how I don't have the aggression, the ruthlessness that I once held... I'm still hearing the slander to no end, knowing fully well that if... if things were to come to a head now, without bogus partners... then results wouldn't tend to repeat. THEY KNOW! They know that given the opportunity to knock their heads off with my boot... then I'd do it in an instant! I wouldn't even hesitate.. and tonight is of no exception. Tonight, I'm going to shut everyone up... once... and for all. Because I'm tired, and I've tried to make sense... I've tried to clear my name ever since the fall of Legacy, but nobody is listening... nobody is heeding my warnings, because they feel as if I've gone soft, they feel as if I'm not the same man who could end a career... but look at Edge, and ask where is he! Go ahead, ask where he is... but I can guaran-damn-tee that you won't find him. Why? Simply because.. I, Randy Orton... made it that way. I made it so that Edge wouldn't be a problem... I made it so that Edge would be banished from this company, and it comes to no surprise that he fled the premises, because he felt the wrath and he knew, he knew that he was in over his head, and this is something... that I still... have to etch into the brains of many, because they just aren't seeing the bigger picture. They just aren't getting it, and if it takes a punt to the head for them to finally get it—then I won't have a problem cocking back my foot and drilling them in the head with it, because I'm here to make a statement, I returned to action... after nearly a month of being away to instill in their brains, the fact that I am still dangerous... and potent.” (Randy pauses before continuing on.) “I came back to further solidify my...” (Orton pauses to think of a fitting word.) “... Legacy. And, I'll be damned if I don't and the rest will be damned if I do. But the thought... or better yet the possibility of me failing to defeat Ziggler tonight is just not something I had planned in the itinerary so I'm not going to let it happen. I'm not going to let Ziggler beat me tonight, I'm not going to let Ziggler get ahead of me, because I've done it for far too long... and that is what I mean when I say I'm tired. I'm tired of playing the... bench... so to say. I'm tired of having to come in second to men like Miz, and John Cena. I'm tired of it, so consider tonight the beginning... of the end, because I'm bringing everything that they've become accustomed to a sudden end. And by everything... I specifically mean, me sitting back in the shadows and waiting for an opportunity to come my way, or just basically me sitting back in the shadows and waiting for something to happen... I'm not... going to do that... anymore. Instead I'm going to make my presence known—” (Randy pauses and thinks about his choice of words, and he chooses to retract.) “Make my presence... felt. Because I want Ziggler to feel an impact when my theme song hits, I want Ziggler to crumble when I set him up for an R...K...O! And I want him to diminish to nearly nothing when I hit him with it... and the same goes for the rest who doubt me, and honestly... honestly, there are many who have found doubt in my ways as of late, and this is what I'm talking about. This is why I've chosen the words I have, and this is why I've come back... and this is why I'm hellbent, because even though I've found gold time and time again in other places. I have yet... to scratch my name in stone here. I have yet to make an impact here so large that it shakes everyone down to the core. I've yet to do that, and quite honestly, tonight... is the perfect opportunity for... a start.”
Randy takes a slight pause, and oddly he lets off a brief smirk. He tilts his head to the side slightly, and it seems as if the thought of becoming champion is something that clearly moves him in a positive way. Wasn't your average smirk either, seeing as how his eyes were still cold, and his stare was still blank as ever. Nothing about his expression was lightened once he smirked, if anything he looked more devious with that smirk on his face, it was almost as if he had something cooking up, or as if he had something brewing up his sleeve. It was one of those smirks, and once Orton slowly began to raise his hand up to his chin, he placed it there and slowly began stroking his beard with his thumb. Thinking deeply about the next clump of words he could use to barrage Todd with, or whoever his statements concerned.
RANDY ORTON | THE VIPER
“And if I'm understanding things right, then this No Limits Championship IS about pushing yourself to the absolute limit. And Ziggler has done it exceptionally well. Ziggler has held that title.... for a lonnnnnng time.” (Orton shakes his head slowly as his attention averts toward his wrist tape that is near perfectly applied.) “Impressive? You're damn right it's impressive.....” (Orton pauses for a little bit of a dramatic feeling.) “To some. Because ya'see I'm not impressed with Ziggler's reign one bit, and it doesn't make me any more intimidated, in fact... I'm not intimidated at all by his reign. It's a great reign... but unlike the men before me who tried to overthrow Dolph Ziggler. I'm not phased by it, because it's all been done before, and all it takes is one man to create the gap. All it takes is one man to find the flaw in Ziggler's ways and exploit it, and honestly I plan on being that one figure. I plan on being that person that beats Dolph Ziggler. And the funny thing about it is that Ziggler won't even see it coming, because he's on cloud nine right now. He feels as if he's untouchable. Rightfully so, I mean... after winning the Championship Chamber match, who wouldn't feel as if they were untouchable. Who wouldn't feel as if they had the world in the palm of their hands. But then that is where the beginning of the end happens, because his head gets ahead of him. He grows a massive ego, and admittedly... everyone... everyone in this company has an ego, even myself and it comes as no surprise. But, with Ziggler.... given the streak he's been on as of late... you could expect for his ego to soar above the rest. You can expect for him to make a few rookie mistakes due to him possibly underestimating the competition because he feels as if he's faced and beat them all, and that nobody poses a threat to his streak, but... THINK AGAIN... because even though it doesn't seem so...” (Randy pauses and gently presses his tongue against his lower lip as he thinks to himself.) “I am the biggest threat to Ziggler's reign, and that's what half of the battle is isn't it? Knowing that you've got the slightest chance of winning... but when the chances of winning are more than just slightly, you can expect... expect for me to easily take over, for me to easily lead the charge and break Ziggler down to his knees. Because tonight... I plan on doing something that men are failing to do. Tonight, I plan on beating Ziggler, and pushing him to his absolute limit. Since this is what it's all about, and we'll see... if the man who claims to have “No Limit” can truly... live up to the hype. But, I'm not expecting much. I'm not expecting to be pushed to my limit here tonight. I'm not going in there with the thought of losing, because the thought to me seems far-fetched. Losing here tonight isn't an option, and if Ziggler doesn't see it as an option either then he needs to take me seriously. He needs to take me dead seriously, because if he doesn't then he's going to have made his first mistake already before even setting foot onto the stage. If he doesn't take me seriously then he's going to be stepping into the ring with a disadvantage, and believe me... believe me.... I would know from experience.” (Randy sighs but doesn't take long for him to carry on afterward.) “And I may not think much of Ziggler... but as a champion, and going into a championship match against him... you can bet that I'm going to definitely be taking him a HELL'UVA LOT more seriously... because, I have to. I have to take him seriously if I plan on winning this match. It'd be just plain stupid if I didn't, and any veteran in this game knows that when the chips are down... that is when it is time to put things into gear... and since tonight is about no limitations... that is... what I'm going to have to do.”
Randy stops talking and he thinks to himself for a brief moment. Todd still stands there with the microphone held up to Randy with a slightly intimidated look plastered upon his face. Randy looks at Todd for a second and notices this, but he is doesn't speak forth on it. Instead he just narrows his eyes and licks his lips waiting for words to hit him like a ton of bricks. Eventually... they do.
RANDY ORTON | THE VIPER
“Since tonight is alllll about having no limitations... I'm going to show that I have none. I'm going to show Dolph Ziggler that I have none, because I'm more than sure that he's found doubt. I'm more than sure that he's found a reason to doubt my abilities. I'm more than sure that he's found a way to instill within his brain that he's better than me. But, being better than me just won't help him find his way to a victory. Just simply being better than me within his mind just isn't.... GOOD ENOUGH! And that's a guarantee. In order for Ziggler to beat me, he's going to have to bring more to the table. In order for Ziggler to truly render me incapable of continuing on in our match... then he's going to need to bring more than he brought to the Championship Chamber because I am more than sure that I'm no Sheamus... I'm no Montel Vontavious Porter, and that I'm nowhere near a Kofi Kingston, and reason being is that I'm better than them all that he faced in that match, even John Cena, and the facts lie where I planted him FLAT with an RKO all of those months ago. So do... THE MATH TODD! I beat Cena easily... easily, so who is to say that I won't beat Dolph just as easy, if not easier? Who is to say that I might not win tonight and surpass Dolph's reign? Because honestlyyyy... when I put my mind to it, I can do some things that people never would have expected... and... that is the unpredictability that I have. And I can tell you right now that I'll win tonight, and have a whole bunch of people jump on the side against me due to the promises I've made and failed to keep up my end of the deal, they would go against my word... they would go against the grain just to oppose my promises, but when... when I win, it's going to hit home because I guaranteed the victory, and idiocy struck big because people think... that they KNOW everything. They think that they know what's going on inside of my mind, they think that they know what is going to happen in a match before the bell even rings... and I've seen...” (Randy pauses and thinks about the word “seen”. He slowly shakes his head and subtly takes it back.) “I've heard what they think of this match. I've heard what they think of me when it pertains to comparisons... between myself... and Ziggler. I heard how they've called him the all-around better performer, and I've heard it all, but I'm here to shut down those claims. I'm here to show them the imperfections of Dolph Ziggler no matter how much he chooses to shove down the facade of perfection down your throats. But, I guarantee that before the night ends that I'll take that image, and... KICK HIM UPSIDE THE HEAD WITH IT! Just to bring him back to reality, and show him that he isn't untouchable, to show him that he can be beat, and if that punt to the skull is what finishes him off... then so be it, but if not then rest assured... that Ziggler will... have a target on his head, and I'm not interested in spears...” (Orton rolls his eyes at the Edge reference.) “But instead I'm going to hit that target that I've placed on him with a big... thunderous... R...K...O! Just for good measures and finish him off, and once that bell rings, once it is all said and done, I promise... I guarantee, and I VOW that I'll change things in ICW. Because once I beat Dolph... it's going to be a complete turn of the tides. Once I beat Dolph... it'll be the beginning of the AGE OF ORTON! The dawning... of a new... and much needed era. For a face that can carry this brand! And believe me... this face doesn't match the bleach blonde—so of course.... it isn't Ziggler who can carry this brand on his back, but it's Randy.... ORTON! And I'll tell you now that I'm ready, willing and able to take full responsibility of being champion. And I know that Montel Vontavious Porter has eyes for the title as well—I get that... but just like Ziggler, he doesn't have enough in him to beat me. On his best day, he couldn't beat me on my WORST! So by saying I plan on holding this title for a long time... it makes it one of the biggest understatements I've ever made! By me saying that I'm going to make this title mine, is definitely one of the biggest understatements I've ever heard! No exaggerations about it either.” (Randy takes a deep breath outward and it's easily heard and picked up. He closes his eyes for a brief moment and opens them back up again. Thinking of the next piece of his prolonged tirade.) “So... the Montels... the Zigglers... the Sheamuses of this company... I've seen, I've beaten and I've conquered them all, and with this new focus, they're nothing that I can't topple over quickly. They're nothing but pawns, still wet behind the ears and completely irrelevant and blind to their surroundings, blind to what is supposed to be... seen, but since... Ziggler might have a hard time seeing what is meant... then I won't have any problem at all showing him what it feels like... to be... a champion. I won't have any debacle showing him what he needs to see, and it'll only take a few seconds to see the canvas, trust me when I say that. So now that I have my mission, my duty, and my job... I won't have any problem completing and fulfilling... what needs to be... done.”
The moment grows a bit intense as the intensity amplifies a thousand-fold. The cameras zoom in on Randy's face and it's as blank as ever as he bites down hard causing his jaw muscles to ripple as he thinks upon unsaid words waiting to be spoken. Randy is a bit reluctant to speak though, as he wants to gather every single thought before he goes out on a limb and starts saying something he shouldn't say. He wanted to think about every single word cautiously before he completely went off on a rant and started bashing everything that Ziggler stood for. He wanted to tie in everything he said within the closing moments, so it required some deep-thought. Todd could sense this, which is why he didn't bother to speak or voice opinions. That, and quite possibly because he was scared to death of The Viper; Randy Orton. With reason too as the cameras remained on his face, he looked straight at it and began to speak with eyes as cold as ice.
RANDY ORTON | THE VIPER
“I've made it blatantly clear that I dislike Ziggler, but I respect him. I respect the reign, and the name that he has made for himself. He's come up from nothing and made a name for himself... so I'd think that it would be reciprocal. I would think that Ziggler has a shred of respect for me as well, but if he doesn't then he'll learn to respect me after tonight. He'll learn to give me the proper approbation that I demand, and deserve and if he isn't willing to give me the respect then I'm going to take it along with his title, and there won't be any ifs ands or buts about it.” (Randy pauses and tilts his head upward slightly. He tucks his bottom lip inward slightly before he continues further.) “But for right now... his main focus should be that championship, and it is... but in a matter of hours, he won't have to worry about it at all. Because I'm taking it tonight and etching my name on it, whether he likes it... or not. Either way.... I don't care....”
He uttered the last few words with great patience. Once he got them off of his chest and smoothly off his tongue, he slowly averted his focus back to Todd, and he gave a slight huff directed at him before turning on his heels and entering his own personal locker room before getting ready to engage in a battle with current reigning No Limits champion, Dolph Ziggler. What a match it shall be, right?fin.
