The familiar chord of "No Chance in Hell" explodes over the PA System as Vince McMahon walks through the curtains dressed in an expensive dark navy blue sports coat accompanied with dark pants. With a serious expression on his face he power walks down the ramp with a microphone in hand. Positioned in the middle of the ring is a 20 foot ladder. He slowly walks up the steel ring steps staring into the crowd with a grin on his face before entering the ring through the top and bottom ropes. The music stops as he enters the ring. With a serious expression again on his face, he paces the ring thinking long and hard about what to say.Vince McMahon: Mr. Kennedy, this Sunday Night at Summer Meltdown, we meet face to face. The question and the battle of who's better and who's right will all be answered in less than 24 hours. There'll be no more questions of who started this. The only question left to answer is, "Who will finish it?" For months you rambled about how you are the best in the business. You think just because you have a good record of winning matches that you can claim to be the "best that SNME has to offer?" You talk about the pain, the punishment, the blood, sweat and tears you have left behind over the span of your 1 year career. What are you trying to prove? That you are better than everyone else? Everyone goes through the same thing, Kennedy. We don't need to hear your sob stories of how you made it in SNME or what you have sacrificed to make it where you are at today. If you want a true sacrifice story...then just look at my career.
Fans: Kennedy!!...Kennedy!!... Kennedy!!...Kennedy!!...Kennedy!!
Shut up!!! For the past 5 years, I've made a name for myself. Through family problems and death I've perceived. I have amassed a legacy, a creation unlike no other and a list of accomplishments that you could only dream of. I did things in my career that very few people can lay claim to. There is one thing that separates a man like you from a man like me and that is...respect. Whether you like it or not...I am a legend in this business. I have worked long and hard for it. I have made my share of mistakes and I have paid my dues. But unlike you...I don't need to talk about my history. People know me for who I am. You know what I think, Kennedy? I think that if you have to cut a promo just to tell people about what you've done, what you've sacrificed and most importantly who you are....then you really aren't as good as you say you are. You have to point out the little details to get people to think, "Oh, that's right. That's Mr. Kennedy. Wow, is he great. Look at how good he is." For the past 5 years, I've done exactly that. The only difference is, I don't have to remind people week after week about what I've done. You know why, Kennedy? Because MY career stands out. Each and every night, I would create a scene, "a moment in time"...where everyone would stand in awe and didn't say a word. And when that night was finished, you know what name stood out? Vincent Kennedy McMahon! So now if you want to continue to cut promos the way you do, before you say anything about yourself, you just remember the name...Vincent Kennedy McMahon!
Fans: Kennedy!!...Kennedy!!... Kennedy!!...Kennedy!!...Kennedy!!
McMahon looking frustrated by the chant of "Kennedy" tries to regain his composure.
Vince McMahon: Damnit, I said Shut up! Or I'll do the same thing I'm about to do to Kennedy to each and everyone of you!
A loud series of boo's erupts.
Fans: You Suck!!...You Suck!!... You Suck!!...You Suck!!...You Suck!! Vince McMahon: Tomorrow night, an encounter similar to "David vs. Goliath" will occur as I face Mr. Kennedy in a ladder match with the stakes never more evident. The very lives of two men will hang in the balance high above the squared circle. The dreams, the dedication, the sacrifices and the blood, sweat and tears that helped get us where we are at today will be up for grabs. Never before in my career has there been a challenge this big. Over the last 5 years, I have overcome adversity and I have made it through the obstacles put before me...but never once has it been apparent that the matter at hand would be a "life or death" situation. The only thing that is for certain is that one man's life will change after tomorrow night. Only one man will grab that brief case. Mr. Kennedy, you claim to be the "fastest rising superstar in SNME?", well let me say this. Your road of victory, happiness and triumph ends here. Your days of claiming to be the best ends here. Your stories of rising to the top through the good times and the bad are finished. You know why, Kennedy? Because I'm writing that final chapter at Summer Meltdown. While, many people think all stories have to end with that fairy-tale ending...this one will be far from it. You see because this is how it's going to happen. At Summer Meltdown, everything you own and everything you cherish will be mine. Because while you may be traveling down that "road of success" now...you're about to come to the end of that road. At the end of that road there is a "road block". And that road block is Vincent Kennedy McMahon. And while you don't see it now...you will. When you come to the realization that you're near the end of the road...you will try to put your brakes on to stop it from happening. But the end will come sooner than you think...And JUST LIKE THAT. It's over. McMahon grins from ear to ear. He slowly puts his microphone to his side as he begins to ascend the 20 foot ladder. Rung by rung he slowly climbs to the top; each move more important than the last. McMahon positions himself atop the ladder. He raises the microphone to his lips as he continues to speak.Vince McMahon: Mr. Kennedy, the time for talk is over. You bring yourself to Summer Meltdown with your career and the accomplishments you have made in SNME and I'll bring the body bag. It's time you met "the devil himself". You're going to be the bear witness of what it feels like to be put through hell. Because I can guarantee damn-tee you this. I will take you to the limits that you've never been taken to before. I'm going to make you bleed both inside and out. I'm going to hurt you bad, Kennedy. I'm going to bruise your ego and I will put an end to your career this Sunday. With those very last few breathes of air and your eyes nearly swollen shut, I will leave just the tiniest bit of life in you...just so you can watch me climb that ladder and take your life away right before your very eyes. While your road to success will come to a stop at Summer Meltdown...your journey will continue far after our match. Because you're going on a one way trip down the "Highway to Hell". With a sick sadistic look on his face he drops the mic to the mat below. "No Chance in Hell" plays over the PA System as McMahon slowly descends from the ladder. With a huge grin on his face he exits the ring to the back.
